Privacy policy
DotStrip is a Mac app that runs on your computer. It has no accounts and no analytics, and I do not collect, sell or share personal information about you.
What the app contacts
To do its job the app makes requests from your Mac to these services. They see your IP address and the request itself, as with any website:
- Open-Meteo for weather and for searching place names. The location you pick is sent to it.
- Yahoo Finance for stock quotes. The symbols you track are sent to it.
- RSS or Atom feeds you choose, which are fetched from whichever site hosts them.
- This site, to check for app updates (an appcast file). Update checks do not send personal information.
Now Playing
The track title and artist are read locally from Spotify or Music on your Mac using Apple Events. They are never sent anywhere.
Payments and license keys
Purchases are handled by Polar, which acts as the merchant of record and collects what it needs to take payment and issue a license key, such as your email address. I do not see your card details. The app checks your license key with Polar when it starts. Your key and trial start date are stored in your Mac’s Keychain.
This website
This website does not use cookies or trackers. It remembers your color choice in your browser’s local storage, which never leaves your device.
